Before taking you scrap copper valuables to a scrap yard, you will want to pull anything more valuable out. For example, an old, solid brass faucet will be worth more as a antique then as scrap brass at $1 per pound.

If you are weary about selling your scrap copper, or maybe you don't think it is worth it, just think of it like this; You are helping the environment by not throwing out your recyclable scrap, AND YOU GET PAID CASH TO DO SO!

If you are late to the scrapping game, you havn't missed your chance to make your money. I suggest you check out the forum at the top of this site to learn all that you can about selling you recyclable scrap items.

Investing in Scrap Copper

Often I find people looking for some way of investing in physical copper. So far, the best option has been for them to buy copper ETFs, and other types of copper based market stocks. Why?

Because buying copper bullion is like pulling teeth, that's why! I have never seen somebody selling pure copper at spot price. I have never once, in my entire life, had the opportunity to buy some type of copper bullion that wasn't absolutely trash or 3x spot price.

...That is, I havn't had the opportunity until today.

That's right, ladies and gentalman. I have discovered the easiest, and cheapest way, to invest in spot copper. The cheapest way to invest in copper bullion is to buy yourself some...

SCRAP COPPER!

Don't believe me? You don't have too. You can keep paying ridiculous premiums for copper medallions that are stamped with silly designs and obvious .999 marks.

Did you know that industry standard coper wire and copper pipes are all .999 pure? Did you know that investing in copper bullion is as easy as buying a spool of thick gauge copper wire? I will see you in the future my friends. Best of Luck!

How To Strip Copper Wire

Copper wire is a really big pain to strip. Almost always I find it to not be worth my time!

First, figure out if the type of wire you like stripping is worth cutting apart. The value of the wire depends on the copper content, and what your yard pays for that type of copper wire and stripped copper wire.

For example, my yard pays out copper #2 price for stripped wire, which is about $3.35 per pound today; But the same yard also pays up to $2 per pound for the high grade wire.

So to break even, my copper wire must have 2/3.35= 60% copper, JUST TO BREAK EVEN. So, if for example, my copper wire is 70% copper (this is only true for the high grade wire, like out of ovens and stoves.) Then, I would be making (.7-.6) * $3.35 = 34¢ per pound of copper I strip. That mean you would make very little money stripping it.
